I have followed my passion. As a teenager, I was interested in electronics and I started my professional career training with the BBC, however, it turned out that TV was not my thing and I became a teacher. After 8 years in primary education, the children felt that they had taught me enough, so I departed with good grace to follow my passion for film. Fifteen years of freelance film production and film education later, and having engaged in many personal development workshops, I realised that working directly with people had become the focus of what I was doing.
In my early adulthood, I attended a hypnotherapist to help me sleep. Since then I have been an expert sleeper and I have maintained an ongoing interest in hypnosis.
Having an interest in personal psychology and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), I decided in 2017 to undertake a certified course in Hypnosis NLP and Positive Psychology with the Scottish Centre of NLP. A year of intensive study later I completed the certificate in 2018, I commenced further training with Hypnoperth in 2019 for the Diploma in Analytical Hypnosis accredited with The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council.
Currently, I am undertaking case studies to finalise my hypnotherapy training and association with GHR (General Hypnotherapy Register)
I have been in the education profession for over twenty years. I am a member of the General Teaching Council for Scotland. I am a Moving Image Education consultant for Scottish Screen and Into Film. I continue to work with young people making films and training them in life skills.
I am a voluntary director with Film Forres which is a community based cinema. I am also a director of Transition Town Forres.
I set up and run Moving Picts - a community based film making group based in the Forres area.
Collaborating with Creative Visions Moray, I have produced five feature length documentaries on local communities.
I have practiced meditation for about thirty years. I am vegetarian and a campaigner for resilience in communities. I walk, cycle or jog every day - exercise is vital for my well-being!
